Okay so let’s just pretend I wrote this blog on New Years Eve; full of bubbly and chocolate, not four days into the new year with every infection you could possibly name! Unfortunately, I spent a good part of the end of 2018 in bed, coughing up my lungs so I didn’t get round to writing about my resolutions for the new year.
However, the good thing about spending a few days wallowing in my own germs and sweat (my fever was wild and hygiene was out of the window – yuck, I know!) is that it has given me time to think about the future and what I want to achieve in 2019. Here are just a few things I want to tick off in the new year:
Get a tattoo
For a long time I have wanted to get a tattoo, just out of pure curiousity of how it feels and what one would look like on me. My sister and I have always thought about getting one together and considering she turns 18 this year, we thought it would be the perfect time! I’m not planning on anything big like a sleeve or something but I would love to start by getting a small, delicate tattoo somewhere on like my wrist or behind my ear.
Be more positive and give less of a shit
I think, like most people, my mental attitude is something that varies all the time. Some days I’m loving life and others I couldn’t think of anything worse than going outside and being an “adult”. However, I felt myself slipping into a really dark and depressed mental state towards the end of 2018 – which lead to many crisises about my life and what I’m doing with it. In 2019, I’m looking to be more positive about my future and where I’m going, as well as stop worrying about things I cannot control.
Save more and budget properly
Out of all of my goals for the new year, I think this has to be the biggest one of them all. It’s taken me a while to realise it but I’m a serial spender. I’m constantly spending money on clothes that I don’t really need and buying takeaways where there’s food in the fridge so this year I would like to cut back on all of this. After thinking about my goals for 2019, a lot of my worries about the future involve money and so I know I need to start putting money away and budgeting my salary properly.
I’ve always enjoyed exploring new places and at the end of 2018, I definitely caught the travel bug. After trips to Amsterdam, Liverpool and Disneyland Paris, I’m looking to do a lot more travelling this year. I’ve already got a few potential trips in the pipeline including weekend break to Iceland in February and possibly a week in New York sometime in May. However, I’d like to plan a few city breaks and trips around the UK over the next few months.
Reach 10k followers on Instagram
In 2018, my Instagram really took off – going from 300 followers to 5k in a matter of months. That’s why this year, I would love to try and reach 10,000 followers on my account and work with more brands that I love.
These are my goals for 2019 – I’ll check back with you at the end of the year to see if I have actually achieved them. Have you got any goals for this year?
