Fluminense, who will participate in the Club World Cup, is still in the midst of its 2023 season, but its 2024 campaign has already begun. Not only for having decided on midfielder Renato Augusto but also for selecting players whose contracts are about to expire. Six of the contracts for the 54 athletes on the main list that are currently in effect will expire in December of this year. Ge describes the circumstances in full.

Willian Bigode, a striker, and left-back Jorge are the two players whose contracts are expected to expire. Regarding Jorge, the sportsman will stay at Fluminense until his recuperation is complete, at which point he will go back to Palmeiras. Despite having torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, he has already been practicing on the field as the season comes to an end.

Willian Bigode was loaned to Athletico until his contract with Fluminense expires at the end of 2023. He got entangled in the Bitcoin issue alongside former Palmeiras teammates Gustavo Scarpa and Mayke. His contract will not be renewed if nothing changes.

Lelê, who is on loan at Fluminense until December 31st, is not comparable. Tricolor and Itaboraí Profute will carry out their R$4 million buy option, which will be in effect until 2024. Coach Fernando Diniz has made this request because he thinks the striker may improve with a preseason spent with the team.

Giovanni’s position is one of the uncertainties. It is unclear what will happen to him after his contract with Fluminense expires on December 31st. The player expressed his wish to stay, but he lost his spot in the second part of the season and was not added to the roster for the Club World Cup.
