Check out the opening day receipts for the films Yaariyan 2, starring Divya Khosla Kumar, and Ganapath, starring Tiger Shroff, which opened on October 20.
The romantic-comedy Yaariyan 2, starring Divya Khosla Kumar, and Tiger Shroff’s futuristic action film Ganapath squared off in theaters yesterday, October 20. The decision about the first-day box office receipts for both films has finally been made. Regretfully, Ganapath has had a little better opening weekend than the other film, and both have had a really bad start.
Speaking of Ganapath, a Sacnilk news report states that the film made Rs 2.50 crore on its opening day. Critics have also given the film, which was directed by Vikas Bahl and features Kriti Sanon in the lead role, unfavorable reviews. Given that both reviewers and viewers have given the film a resounding thumbs down, it appears that the film will struggle to make a comeback in the days ahead.
However, Yaariyan 2, directed by Divya Khosla Kumar, had an even worse premiere. A Sacnilk news article claims that the movie’s first day earnings were merely Rs 0.60 crore.
Critics have given the movie, which also stars Meezan Jaffrey and Pearl V Puri, varying reviews. When it gets to the opening collection, the film is nothing like its first section. The 2014 movie’s opening weekend receipts of Rs 5.48 crore were significantly better than those of its sequel.
It was previously reported—and it came to pass—that Ganapath will probably make more money on its debut day than Yaariyan 2. Industry tracker Sacnilk projected that Tiger’s movie would have a mediocre first weekend at the box office. Reports from the first day of advance booking indicated a slow start. 20,196 tickets were sold in total on the first day of sales. Yaariyan 2’s advance sales showed the movie wouldn’t do well at the box office on opening day. Fewly 800 seats have reportedly been sold for the movie, according to media estimates, meaning that it would likely only earn Rs 2 to 3 crores on its opening day. But it made even less money than that.
