Cristian Romero and Heung-min Son’s health are causing concern among Tottenham supporters.
The Spurs captain was playing for South Korea on Tuesday while clearly in discomfort, and the defender was taken out at halftime of Argentina’s victory against Peru hours later.
The good news is that Rodrigo Bentancur is getting closer to playing again. As the conclusion of the international break approaches, five senior players are out of action, including the Uruguayan midfielder.
Before’s match against Fulham, Brennan Johnson has lately been dealing with a problem, and Manor Solomon just had surgery.
In contrast to Ryan Sessegnon, who has yet to play this year, Ivan Perisic is another long-term absence, and Bryan Gil and Giovani Lo Celso made their comebacks only before the break.
Here is the most recent information on Tottenham injuries and expected comeback dates.
Heung-min Son
Heung-min Son has acknowledged that he played despite the discomfort for South Korea because he did not want to let his home crowd down. Even though he was hobbling at the break, he managed to score and complete the entire 90 minutes of Vietnam’s 6-0 victory.
The 31-year-old acknowledged afterward that a groin issue had made it difficult for him to exercise in advance of the game, but he was still keen to participate.
Son said, “I was worried about whether to play in today’s game, but I couldn’t accept coming to Korea and not playing in front of the fans,” when questioned about his injury following South Korea’s victory. I talked with the coach about it and assured him I would take part in the match. Although I couldn’t engage as much in training, I appreciate the coach’s support for my decision.
Possibly returning on October 23 against Fulham
Cristian Romero
Spurs supporters who remained up late to see Argentina defeat Peru will have seen Cristian Romero pulled at halftime to raise concerns over an injury, hours after Son staggered off a pitch in Korea.
Before halftime, the center back was allegedly experiencing “discomfort” and was replaced to begin the second half.
Possibly returning on October 23 against Fulham
Bentancur, Rodrigo
Bentancur continues to strive toward recovery from his major knee injury, and Ange Postecoglou has made light of the fact that he often needs to be dragged from his brief practices with the Spurs team.
When the Uruguayan was spotted in the warm-up for the first team’s training session last month, fans were anticipating the eagerly awaited return.
Bentancur won’t make a comeback until November, but according to the most recent sources, he’s still on track to do so as his recuperation is progressing quickly.
Possible comeback dates are November 11 against Wolves and November 26 against Aston Villa.
Brennan Johnson
Johnson, a summer addition, has been out of play for a few weeks, including the current internationals, due to a hamstring injury sustained in the north London derby.
According to a Standard Sport article from earlier this month, Tottenham is hoping he can play against Fulham. That still is the intention, but it is not assured that he will be deemed fit.
Possibly returning on October 23 against Fulham
Solomon Manor
Solomon’s expected recovery time after a knee injury sustained while training is about two months.
Surgery was necessary, and afterward, Spurs announced: “The forward has undergone surgery today and will commence his rehabilitation with our medical staff immediately.”
Possible date of return: December 2023
Sessegnon, Ryan
After returning to light training at the beginning of the month, Sessegnon may rejoin the Tottenham squad shortly.
The left-back had hamstring surgery in the summer, and over the next several weeks, he will gradually be reintroduced to the team.
Potentially in November 2023.
Ivan Perisic
After suffering a knee injury that would finish his season, it is anticipated that Perisic will play his last match for Tottenham.
When his contract in north London expires in the summer, the Croatian is expected to sign with Hajduk Split.
Possibly in the summer of 2024.
