Neither coach nor captain! Who is preventing Shreyas Iyer from bowling in international cricket?

In India’s 5th Twenty20 International match against Australia in Bengaluru, Shreyas Iyer amassed 53 runs.

After a lengthy absence, Shreyas Iyer rejoined the Indian Twenty20 team and participated in the last two Twenty20 matches against Australia. Additionally, he contributed to India’s triumph in the fifth and final Twenty20 International match, which gave them a 4-1 lead in the five-match series.

Under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, India had a youthful squad, and their performances fared better than anticipated. India was asked to bat first in Bengaluru’s final Twenty20 International. India scored 160/8 in 20 overs thanks to a solid 53 from Shreyas Iyer (five fours and two sixes), 21 from Yashasvi Jaiswal, 24 from Jitesh Sharma, and 31 from 15 balls from Axar Patel.

Ben Dwarshuis and Jason Behrendorff both claimed two wickets.

Australia’s Travis Head (28 runs) and Ben McDermott (54 runs) were the highlights of their chase, but India’s superb bowling kept Australia to 154/8, and India won by 6 runs. The best bowler was Mukesh Kumar, who finished with 3/32, while Arshdeep Singh and Ravi Bishnoi both claimed two wickets.

Player of the Series went to Ravi Bishnoi, while Player of the Match went to Axar Patel.

Bowling is Shreyas Iyer’s dream.

India has had a long-standing problem finding top-order batsmen who are prepared to put their arms in danger in order to offer depth to the bowling. India tested out players like Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli at the just concluded World Cup, but not Shreyas Iyer.

Iyer said he has been dying to bowl for India after having a fantastic innings in Sunday’s fifth and final Twenty20 International match against Australia.

In just 7.3 overs of international cricket, Iyer has conceded 43 runs without taking a wicket for India. Nonetheless, Iyer has amassed 10 wickets in 65 first-class matches, 140 List-A matches, and 199 T20 matches.

“I’ve been itching to bowl, but you won’t be bowling for a while right now with the strength and conditioning coaches.” After India won the fifth Twenty20 International, Iyer told Jio Cinema, “That’s the sad part of it.”
